Thinking about it enough that it triggers an alarm in your body
If you catch yourself:
Worrying
Catastrophizing about the future
"What is this", "What is that"
If you let your thoughts spin, then it will spin you out of control and you will start to feel anxious.
You need to interrupt the worry pattern/thought and insert something else:
Count backwards from 5- 4- 3- 2- 1 then insert one of the following pattern interrupts:
What if it all works out. (When you stand up to present, what if the presentation goes really well) ... you can't argue with that.
This moment will pass.
I can handle this.
So, count back 5-4-3-2-1, then insert a different pattern of thought to interrupt the worry.
If you can stabilise your thoughts the body will settle down, so it doesn’t escalate.
