The things you do in the morning prime you for the day. Here are 4 tips to make yours count:
1. Create awareness
Be honest about the habits that are having a negative influence. Bombarding your brain with social media, checking emails, eating unhealthily - these all trigger stress before the day has begun. Swap processed carbs for protein, drink water before coffee, consider some exercise.
2. Avoid screens
Instead of reaching for your phone as soon as you wake, pause and tune in to how you're feeling. Ideally, don't keep your phone in the bedroom.

3. Practise gratitude
Each morning, list five things you are thankful for or looking forward to. Do this every day and it will help break negative thinking cycles and form a more positive outlook.
4. Be mindful
Just 2-5 minutes of morning meditation makes all the difference. Focus on your breathing. Savour the present moment through all your senses. When you fill your mind with 'now', there's little room for worry.
