Hacking Into Your Happy Chemicals: Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin and Endorphins



Dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins are the quartet responsible for happiness. There are ways we can intentionally cause them to flow.


Dopamine: motivates us toward goals. Break big goals into small pieces - celebrate each win for a continuous dopamine flow.

Serotonin: flows when you feel significant. Boost it by reflecting on achievements, getting sunlight, exercising.

Oxytocin: creates intimacy and trust. Give more hugs (8 per day recommended), compliments, and gifts.

Endorphins: released in response to pain and stress. Exercise, laugh more, and try aromatherapy with vanilla or lavender.
