Tony Robbins and Psilocybin: A Look at a Groundbreaking Study
Tony Robbins, known for his early work in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), recently discussed an eye-opening study conducted at Johns Hopkins University, which explored the use of psilocybin (commonly known as magic mushrooms) in treating depression. This was one of the first studies of its kind, especially considering that psilocybin remains an illegal substance and cannot be used with the general public.
In the study, participants were given psilocybin for 30 days, and by the end, 53% of them were completely free of depression—an outcome that was four times better than any previous drug trial! The remarkable success of the study led researchers to compare these results with another approach—using techniques like "Gratitude Journaling," which is based on principles similar to NLP.
The second study yielded even more incredible results. Stanford University got involved and conducted two separate double-blind placebo-controlled trials to further test the findings. Instead of using psilocybin, these trials focused on "Gratitude Journaling."
After just one week, 63% of the participants showed no symptoms of depression. By the end of the study, an astounding 100% of the participants were depression-free. Notably, 19% of the participants had been suicidal at the start of the study, but none remained suicidal by the conclusion.
The scientific results from this research demonstrated that gratitude journaling and similar techniques were more effective than any drug, including psilocybin, and even outperformed any combination of drug treatments ever tested.
